New Guinea Impatiens are vibrant, tropical flowering plants that bring bold colour to shaded garden spaces. These compact plants typically grow 30–45 cm tall and spread 25–35 cm wide, making them ideal for borders, containers, and hanging baskets. These impatiens thrive in partial shade to dappled sunlight and prefer consistently moist, well-draining soil. Water regularly during the growing season, keeping soil moist but not waterlogged. They're sensitive to cold, so protect from temperatures below 10°C. Feed fortnightly with a balanced fertiliser during spring and summer to encourage continuous flowering. Pinch back young growth to promote bushier plants with more blooms. New Guinea Impatiens flower prolifically from late spring through autumn, producing striking blooms in shades of red, pink, orange, and purple.
